Fasting feature request: calorie expenditure

I would very much like to see being able to set calorie planned expenditure budget differently on different days.

The 4:3 eating/fasting pattern allows 500 calories on fast days, and I would like to be able to adjust to that setting for my 3 fast days, and have my usual calorie expenditure budget accurately reflect what I have left

  • @zachiedoo I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I'll share a bit. I water fast for a certain portion of the week and intermittent fast for the remaining days of the week. Routinely the amount of fasting days change weekly for mainly optimal health reasons and a strong microbiome/metabolism. (i.e., I just completed a 4 day water fast today and broke it at 12:00 pm and started my 18/6 for the rest of the week at 6:00 pm.) I keep a calendar, a journal, and a notebook to keep me on schedule and motivated.

Perhaps you have a somewhat challenging (but rewarding) schedule that you are mastering. I've found that writing down in detail my schedule and goals has not only been beneficial but necessary. I also use tracking tools as well as my notebooks. I've also used the fasting schedule in Cronometer.

I don't know if any of this is of any help, but I respect your determination and I'm sure you will find a resolution that fits your needs.

  • Thanks for your input and sharing a bit of your journey.

I have journaled daily for about 18 moths now. I developed a digestive problem in the spring and decided adding a 'symptoms' journal would help me identify the foods that were problematic, particularly since I had been tracking with Cronometer for months before that: the two combined have been very helpful.

I am completely new to fasting; the 4/3 schedule is the first I have read about in any depth and decided to try. I am trying to maximise weight loss while I await a surgery date. I have taken the approach that I am 'in training' in preparation for surgery: maximizing nutrition and weight loss and working on my body to make it more fit and stronger as well. I figure it can only help.

  • @zachiedoo Yes, I've found journaling is helpful for many reasons. I just posted a response to you on another subject . I'm glad that you are fasting as I have found it to be healing. All the best!
