New Beta Build: Re-Designed Food Search!
Hi Everyone,
We have just pushed a new beta build with completely revamped food search functionality! We’ve been listening to your feedback and conducting User Research and we are really excited about the new design. Read the details and descriptions below and be sure to send us your feedback!
New Food Search Design
We take our role as your personal tracker very seriously. Which is why when you voiced your opinions and recommended changes we listened. With your feedback top of mind, we worked diligently to develop a better, smarter and quicker way to log your food.
What’s Changed?
• Multi-Add is now easier than ever! To add multiple items to your diary at once, simply tap the checkbox next to the food in the main list. You can see a summary of all the foods you are about to add to your diary by tapping on the bottom drawer. Once you are happy with your selection, click Add to Diary.
• Limit your search results to find foods more quickly by using the filter icon in the top right corner. Filter Food Categories or by Food Database.
• Use the recipe icon in the top right corner of the drawer to create a recipe directly from your food selections.
We are really interested in hearing your feedback so please let us know what you think and if you encounter any issues.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Brendan
P.S. iOS users will have to wait a little bit for Apple to review the build before it shows up in Testflight, but you should receive a notification as soon as it's ready!

The good.... Nearly all of "add food" changes are a welcome improvement.
The bad.... I usually copy the previous day's food and then adjust the amount of food accordingly. Clicking a single food now goes to the detail page, adding a step to change the quantity of the selected food. Not really a big deal, but slows down using the app compared to how I have been using it.

Thanks for pointing this out RWP! I will log a bug with our developers and get this fixed ASAP.

OH JOY! Check boxes on the food items, AND remembers the foods checked while searching for an additional item, joy joy! Took me 27 seconds to enter my breakfast.
Love the new interface, well done!!!
Will get to testing other features but this was a BIGGIE.

LOVE this new feature! Especially that it remembers foods already selected as I search.
One thing that didn't seem intuitive was creating a recipe from the selected ingredients. Am I correct that that can only be done from the diary screen once the foods have been added?
Also, I may have just missed it, but is there a way to alter quantities of the select food while searching/before adding to diary?

Thanks for the feedback @MrsBenz we really appreciate it! Just wondering if you can elaborate further on how you would like the create recipe feature to act (In an ideal world for your specific purposes)
You can also create a recipe via the Foods tab
You can find the place to edit quantity etc. while adding foods to your selection by tapping on the food itself instead of the checkbox next to itHilary

Thanks, @Hilary I've already created a ton of recipes in the food tab, I was just talking specifically about creating it from the selection in search. I couldn't find a way to create the recipe with selected ingredients until after I added them to my diary. Just curious if that's the intended method or if I missed a step.
And that makes sense on changing quantity, thanks! -
Ah, I see @MrsBenz You should be able to create a recipe directly in the add foods screen! Select your foods then expand the tray at the bottom. Here, you will find a recipe creator button.

@Hilary Perfect! I got it Thanks!
-
Edit....
I figured out what I don't like about it.
Selected filters don't reset after you leave the add food screen.
Example:
Add food, filter set to favorites, select food, hit add.
Later in the day, when you go to add a food with search, it says nothing is available until you remove the favorites filter.

Thanks for your feedback RWP! I'll bring this up with the team.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all your feedback so far! Wanted to let you know that we will be temporarily removing the new Food Search design from the next Beta build. This will allow the team to fix some bugs, so we can get it back out to you next week, running smoother than ever!
As always don't hesitate to send your feedback in the meantime,
Cheers,
Brendan

As an IOS (12.4) user, I saw an update in Testflight, Rel 3.2.1, but do not see multi-add or filter ability. Do I need to wait for Apple or a new release? Will this also be released to the PC version?
Thanks

Hey Fallwalker, we have temporarily disabled food search in the latest build. Have a couple items on our end that the team needs to work through before releasing it.
Thanks!

Has the Food Search been re-enabled? Do we need a particular IOS release?
-
Hey Fallwalker, we are still iterating on different designs before releasing the final product. Sorry for the wait!
