Irritating scroll reset in diary in iOS app

I'm using the iOS version of Chronometer v3.21.0 (b1325-IF).
In a recent update (last few weeks) the app started this behavior of resetting the diary scroll back to the top whenever you leave the app at all.
This makes it very difficult to use the "+" button next to a diary group when it changes out from underneath you. You end up hitting a different group or even an existing food entry.
I believe it may be doing a sync with Apple Health and then resetting to the top for me to "conveniently" see the results. But the only change is like a fraction of a calorie change in the current energy balance.
Attached is an animation of it resetting the scroll even after something as innocuous as pulling down the control center.
