Is anyone else here following Keto or low-carb?

Options

I am following keto due partly because it has helped me lose weight in the past, but mostly because most plant foods make me sick. I can't eat gluten or grains. I can't digest raw vegetables and can only eat a few different veggies as long as they are cooked. Fruit causes severe inflammation for me, so it is just a healthier way for me to eat according to my personal health problems.

It would sure be nice to find a fellow keto eater here.

  • Hello, I am eating carnivore/keto. Once I hit menopause i developed autoimmune issues and I have lipedema. 2 years ago I cut out wheat, sugar and went keto. I loved it and lost over 50 lbs. Then I got stuck for a year and didn't lose anything. Now I'm trying to be stricter so I'm doing carnivore and I'm loving it. I just lost 3.5 lbs in the last 4 days and I'm never hungry. I'm hoping once I lose the rest of my weight I will add things back in from keto.

  • Keep me posted about your carnivore journey!

    I went strict carnivore for about 6 months, but I think I was overeating protein because I ended up gaining weight on it. I went carnivore after taking off 30 lbs with keto. So, I went off carnivore after the weight gain and couldn't really stick to keto, so I've gained a bunch of weight back, so now I'm back on strict keto but the weight is coming off so much more slowly this time.

    Keep in touch, Lulugirl!

  • Welcome to the world of Keto, Jovigal! If you are just getting started, I recommend Adapt Your Life with Dr. Eric Westman on YouTube. His channel is full of great information! I follow his "prescription" Keto plan which limits daily carbs (total, not net) to 20 grams, or no more than 25.

    Can't wait to hear how you are doing and what you think of Keto!

    Learn, learn, learn!
    Eric Westman (great long-timer with practical application methods; Duke University supports his ketogenic teachings);
    Annette Bosworth "Dr Boz" - extreme ketogenic principles (works with severely ill patients);
    Sten Ekberg - excellent instructor on details regarding food chemistry and the body's interactions (even if he doesn't agree with a theory, still gives the pros and cons);
    Ken Berry - great radical doc on carnivore; frustrated with AMA misinformation.
    Study, then find your favorites... the ones who are doing it the way you want to!
