Logging vacation meals

Probably a stupid question... but I went to an all-inclusive vacation and had all kinds of random foods that I had no idea how to log in and, honestly, was too lazy to bother anyway. Is there any kind of a best practice in this case? Some kind of a "miscellaneous vacation food" or something? Lol. Thanks!

  • approximation is always better than no logging as well or you could use the photo logging feature. agree vacations are always tough but random foods are still food, if you miss the fancy sauces and condiments at least you can get the main elements.

  • For this case, I like to use an AI tool. I describe the meal to the best of my ability, including the name, the style of food/restaurant if applicable, weather it's large or regular or small portion, and as many of the ingredients as I can. Sometimes I'll take a picture of the dish and/or the menu description. Then I'll ask for the estimated calories, macros, and some micros like sodium, iron, etc. Usually AI tools will give you a range, so I'll generally use the upper end of the range for calories, carbs, fat, and sodium, just to err on the side of caution.

If you're interested in estimating as close as possible, don't forget to log sauces and dips, as they often provide massive calorie bumps.
