passive fasting/eating-window
I’d like to request a passive fasting/eating-window feature that calculates fasting periods from existing diary timestamps, without requiring users to manually start a fast.
For example, if my last logged food is at 5:00 p.m. and my first logged food the next day is at 9:00 a.m., Cronometer could automatically show that I had a 16-hour fasting window. It could also show the daily eating window, such as first calorie to last calorie.
This would be useful for people who don’t necessarily want to schedule a formal fast, but want awareness of their natural eating window and how small timing shifts affect it. For example, a user could see that moving their last snack earlier would increase their overnight fasting window.
Ideally, the feature could ignore water, black coffee, tea, zero-calorie items, and supplements, or allow users to set a calorie threshold for what counts as breaking a fast.
Suggested metrics:
first calorie of the day
last calorie of the day
daily eating window
overnight fasting window
weekly average eating/fasting window
longest no-calorie gap
This could be shown as an optional Diary insight or chart, separate from the existing fasting timer.
I used AI to help me draft this post - I hope it isn't too obnoxious... thank you for a great app!
