Food Database Improvements

As an Australian user of Cronometer, i would like to:
1) have settings to turn off various calorie databases (there is alot of noise!)
2) have more regional databases food coverage (aussie brands are lacking)

  • I second this from NZ! A lot of the US foods are incorrect for us, even generic things like peanut butter or US brands sold here. Local things like fish types are tricky to figure out (I have no idea what tilapia is, we don’t really have cod etc, and kawhai, terakihi which are most common here aren’t listed)

eg, NZ McDonalds/PizzaHut et al is very different (usually lower in calories and carbs according to their websites) than US, but I have to enter the US one and try to adjust serving size to compensate.

Is access to an Aussie DB close on your roadmap? I like the extra nutrient info this has over MFP, but it’s too hard to enter things on this one with such a North American focus.

    thanks.

  • Thanks for your feedback! We are hoping to improve our capabilities for international usage in the future (Including more access to different databases, metric units, and more languages.
In the meantime, you can add custom foods to your account to use - The australian food database is open to public! https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/science/monitoringnutrients/afcd/Pages/foodsearch.aspx
