Why can't I add my recipes to my daily diary?

I created my own recipes for what I typically eat, however I cannot pull it when I go to add to my diary... It's not a food it's a compilation of foods so I didn't add it there but that is the only search engine you have. When I use the custom filter in the search engine it still won't show... Some of them from my history show up when I search this way, but the new ones won't show.
