Looking for help in controlling diet and weight

I am a stage 4 kidney failure patient, diabetic (type 2), need to lose 50 pounds, High blood pressure, high cholesterol and chronic anemia. I have been looking for nutritional help from someone who uses this program to ease communication and planning. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I think there needs to be a way to see what medical plans the practitioners here take in full or paritial payment and their payment methods need to be searchable. I have looked for a while yet and have not found anyone. It would be easier to look here than go through all the pages in my medical plan's listing.

  • Cut the carbs, up the fat to 70-80% of your cals and protein to 20-30% of your cals. Eat ruminant meat, especially Organ meat like Liver, Heart, Kidneys and Brain. The best Fat source is Tallow. Eat until you're full and only eat when you are hungry. Get at least 4000 IUs of Vitamin D per day. That's all.

Given the staging of your renal disease, it's really important for you to consult with a professional to ensure that any nutrition advice you follow won't progress the illness.

I recommend looking for a dietitian using the following search engines:

    Canada: https://members.dietitians.ca/DCMember/s/find-dietitian?language=en_US

    US: https://www.eatright.org/find-an-expert

Once you find a renal expert, you can ask about their familiarity with this program. Most dietitians would love that you are using this program as it helps us to zero in on your intake of key nutrients (i.e. potassium, sodium, protein, phosphorus, etc.).

    Kind regards,

  • You should check out some YouTube videos of Dr. Jason Fung a Canadian nephrologist.

  • @Vonneb I agree with @Susan_RD_101. This site is providing me with excellent support with the weight loss issue. I am a whole food plant based vegan and I know that also positively contributes to my health. Hopefully, your renal doctor will work with you hand-in-hand on your current challenges. I am wishing you the best in all your endeavors towards health.

  • THank you.. will follow suggestions

I have seen specialists.. who have a one size fits all approach. I went from stage 3 to stage 4 due to too much protein intake.. it was simple yet deadly to have black beans and mushrooms for meals (as much as I love them). I now have a handle on how much protein to eat as well as other nutrients (It took 3 consults with 3 different) dieticians. I am working my way back up in the stage 3 range. It is a struggle which is why I am seeking help. The best non-professional help has been Dadvice. Bless him.. He has a better and more cooperative team than I. Thanks for comments all.
