behavior of CTRL+click and SHIFT+click on Diary page

When on the main diary page, CTRL+click behaves the same as a regular click and SHIFT+click allows you to individually select multiple items. Can you change this such that CTRL+click is used to individually select multiple items and SHIFT+click selects a range from the currently selected item to whatever other item is clicked? This would make it easier to select a range of items and also make the interface consistent with the GUI of pretty much every other webpage and application that has multi-select functionality.
