Nutrients in grains

There are likely no nutrients that you can't obtain from meat, veggies, and dairy. However, meeting the RDAs for all essential nutrients becomes increasingly challenging. Without fruit and whole, unprocessed grains, meeting minimum fibre requirements (which I like to be around 30 g, depending on calorie needs) can be difficult. Grains are also an excellent source of B vitamins, including folate, manganese, and magnesium.

The Whole Grains council has a useful chart that let's you see how nutrient-dense various grains are. You could use this chart to determine which grains you may want to add in to meet low nutrient intakes.
