If you are using the iOS mobile app, you'll be happy to know that you can add multiple foods to your diary without going back to the home screen by selecting the '+' beside the save button in the 'Add Serving' dialog box. We are looking into implementing this feature to the Android app and the website.
This also works in the iOS app when adding ingredients to custom recipes.
