No black coffee in the data base?
We do not include most branded coffees in the database under barcode numbers, as most of these brands do not have nutrition information associated with them. I recommend using the NCCDB listing, "Coffee, Prepared From Grounds" (Food #450678) as it is lab analysed and contains the most data you will find in the database for coffee.
As always, any and all postings here are covered by our T&Cs:
I wasn’t looking under barcodes I was looking more at the restaurant section, I know that Cronometer does not put things in the data base that has very little nutrients which can be good but when your looking at it from a consumers and business point a view it can be a bad thing as it makes the consumer have to manually input very simple things like coffee into their data base, I’ve had to today manually enter many items that was not in the data base which other apps have, having said that I still do prefer Cronometer over others just wish it was more competitive with other programs.
We recently released a blog post about how to choose the best data for your needs here: https://cronometer.com/blog/6-tips-getting-nutrition-data/
If your priority is to get the most detailed information for a food, I recommend choosing entries from the NCCDB in the Common Foods Tab. By choosing entries in the common foods tab (as described in the above link to Blog post) you can ensure that you are getting accurate information.
If your priority is to log foods exactly as the nutrition facts appear on the package, I would recommend using the barcode scanner feature on the mobile app or entering the bar code number into the search bar on the Web version. If you cannot find the corresponding nutrition information, you can create a custom food and enter the nutrition information manually as seen on your foods packaging, and save the data in your custom foods to easily enter it again the next time you eat the food. When creating a custom food, you can submit it for publishing to our public database for use by you and other users later!
Sounds good thank you
