Is there a reason the calories would not be tied to the macros when using Fixed Values? It allows you to incorrectly assign macros that wouldn't could never reach those calories. Kind of curious behind this one? Thanks!
@strakernutritionco you're right this could definitely be misleading! We have discussed looking into a more hybrid target system, but we currently have fixed set this way so all users have complete control over their diets.
What system do you use with your clients? Do you give your clients a set energy target, and then proportions of calories?
As always, any and all postings here are covered by our T&Cs:https://forums.cronometer.com/discussion/27/governing-terms-and-disclaimer
@Hilary I give them targets for each macronutrient. It becomes more of an issue when making tweaks every week or few weeks. We'll adjust carbs up some or fats down and I'll forget to adjust the calories and end up giving them an unreachable combination of calories and macros.
Thanks @strakernutritionco that's super useful feedback! Would Dynamic Macro ratios be more useful for you in this case? If you set the dynamic ratios, the calories will correct themselves. Instead of entering a gram value for the nutrient, you set a ratio and then the calories will adjust as needed.https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020446112
@Hilary Happy to help! I don't think the macro ratios would be very useful for me, as that would change all the macros for a client every time I wanted to change something slightly. Say I wanted to increase carbohydrate by 25 a day during a peaking training phase but keep fats and protein the same the ratios would skew those numbers (albeit slightly), but from a client perspective I think it would be harder to constantly have to pivot their protein macros when in reality I don't change them for longer durations at a time.
Thanks @strakernutritionco !
I agree with the poster. Macro %'s do not mean or do anything for me. When you enter manually (fixed) grams for macros in the app the calories should be automatically adjusted. Currently I find myself having to leave Chronomer and go back back to My Fitness Pal for this option.
