Re: To use Net carbs less fiber or Total carbs seems black and white for the greyness of fiber
Hello @Tending_1 , Thanks for sharing these article, very interesting! Indeed, fibers and sugar alcohols can contribute 0-4 kcal/gram. So calculating calories from Net Carbs only would under represent the amount of calories you are getting. If you want the most accurate information, I would recommend only logging generic… -
Re: Why don't the macros add up in certain foods?
Hello @mmmm , The percentages represent the % of calories from each macro. For example that would mean that 41% of calories are from fat. Generally you can use the rule that carbs and protein are 4 kcals per gram, and fat is 9 kcals per gram. However, the calories and the macronutrient values will be a bit off because each… -
Re: Canned Tomatoes and Thiamin
Hi Nony_mouse, They provided the data they have for canned tomatoes: The sample size was 4 values with high variability ranging from 0.081 to 1.66mg/100g and a mean thiamin value of 0.575mg/100g. Re: Database error margins
Hi p0wer_lifter, Databases like NCCDB and USDA use more specific energy factors for different foods instead of using the average estimates for the macronutrients: 4/4/9 kcal per gram for carbs/protein/fat, respectively. However, Cronometer does use the average energy values to set up your macro ratio targets. So your… -
Re: Apple Health Timestamp
Timestamp feature (a part of golden subscription!) seems to be broken when used with Apple health sync on iPhone 11 Pro max iOS 14.4. The nutrition data logged on certain time of the day (see images 1-2) are displayed with an incorrect time stamp in Apple health app (see images 3-4). The correct chronometer’s timestamp…
