Sharing with friends

Hi there. I am considering the gold subscription primarily for the sharing options. The sharing just mean that they will see the custom food that you have created on with a be able to see everything from that day (for example, all of my nutritional breakdown and the foods that I have eaten?). I want to be able to share to keep me accountable with others.

  • Hi @Roxby Sharing allows you to share your custom foods with your "Friends". This does not offer an option to share your diary entries. If you would like to share your diary entries, you can print a report or screenshot your main diary page, or export your servings to a spreadsheet.

  • Hi there - thanks for getting back to me. That seems a bit of a clunky way of doing it, is there a plan in the future to add this feature (similar to MyFitnessPal?)

    Cheers

  • Hi @Roxby we do not currently have anything in the works for easy saring on social media, however this has been requested more and more often lately, so it is certainly on our radar. thanks for expressing your interest here, as it will certainly go towards our likelihood of developing this functionality.

  • Hi there. Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my last post, I wasn’t necessarily talking about sharing on social media but more of allowing my personal trainer and nutritionist friends to have access to my diary so they can see what I’m eating, see what macro targets I’m hitting and also yeah able to point me in the right direction and keep me accountable.

  • Thanks for the clarification @Roxby !

  • @Hilary I agree that would be very useful. MyMacros + has that and hopefully you can add that very soon as a key feature

also - how do you actually see friends recipes and stuff? Cannot figure it out been trying forever

  • Hi @RalphD73 Once you have accepted your friends custom foods and recipes sharing request, you can find their foods and recipes by searching for them by food name in the Add serving dialogue, like you would when entering your own custom foods in your diary. Currently we do not provide a way to simply browse through your friends custom foods and recipes.

  • @Hilary I'm not sure I understand here. So you need to already know the name of their food or recipe to find it? Can you search for a friend's name? This seems pretty useless. Am i confusing how to use this?

  • @RalphD73 the purpose of the sharing feature is to share your custom foods with someone you are sharing a meal with. Say you make a meal with your friend and you enter in all the nutrient values, then, your friend can search for that same meal and not need to enter each value in themselves

  • This is a bit clunky, you have to know exactly what the food is named, which is not trivial if that person doesn't live with you.

  • It would be great to share my data with my Doctor. It will significantly enhance office visits. My Doctor will know my history in detail.

Also, it would be good to share the database (somewhat anonymously) with health "data miners." They could use the extensive data Cronometer has collected to help guide public policy and make recommendations resulting from multi-variable probability analysis.

  • You can share your data with your doctor CronHodor by using the Print Report option in the Trends jab. Print it out to bring it with you, or save as a pdf to send electronically!

While the data could be used to inform public policy endeavours, we're committed to the privacy and security of everyone's data.
