Estimated Maintenance Calories
Hello everyone,
Need some help. Chronometer spits out my maintenance calories at about 2500ish. but when I cut 500 for a 6 wk period I lost 16lbs (actually I lost 21 but I took 4lbs off as water). that's a 1700ish calorie difference. I enter a custom BMR but then the maintenance estimator doesn't adjust with my change in weight. can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Hi @SethMe ,
If you set a custom BMR, it will not change when you adjust your weight.
If you want your BMR to change when you update your weight, you should not use a custom BMR and use the Mifflin St Jeor equation, which will adjust with your weight, height, age, and sex.

Understood Marie, so how do I account for the 1700 calorie difference? should I use the activity multiplier? even when adjusting the activity multiplier, once I enter a lower weight the reduction in BMR is only going to be half of what it should be. Perhaps I'm over thinking it...

Hello @SethMe,
You can also set a weight loss goal in Cronometer if you want to add a calorie deficit to your target.
On the website, this can be done in the Settings tab > Targets sub-tab
https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020897311-Weight-GoalIn the mobile app, you'll find the weight goal option in the Settings tab.
Kind regards,

Why is the default activity multiplier value in the app not matching the values in the Harris-Benedict Equation & Mifflin-St Jeor Equation for "moderate exercise activity", for those equations the multiplier value is 1.55, and on the app its 0.5?
