Micro Nutritients in Database?

Hi all @ cronometer,
I want to track my vegan nutrition with cronometer, macro and micro nutritients.
I find that I reach protein targets macro but cannot reach most micro protein / amino acid amounts.
Most food that I add from the database does not have amino acid data, only macro protein value, is that the reason for not reaching micro targets?
Only raw unprocessed foods like potato or paprika include the detailed micro protein infos.

Now after all, cronometer is not able to track micro proteins for me daily, or am I getting something wrong?

Thx for any hints and help!
regards
d.

PS: I am especially after an availability for tracking the amino acid lysine ...

  • Hi there,

Sounds like you are adding branded foods to your diary!

Branded products don't list full nutrient profiles on their nutrition labels.

The best way to get the most nutrition information is to use our most comprehensive database - the NCCDB. By performing text-based searches when adding foods, most whole foods can be found from the NCCDB which lists many, many more vitamins and minerals in their nutrient profiles.

I suggest taking a look at this blog: https://cronometer.com/blog/6-tips-getting-nutrition-data/

I hope that will help you navigate Cronometer to it's fullest capabilities to enable you to obtain more accurate information on both macro and micronutrients.

  • Thank you Karen for your kind answer and the hints, very helpful!
Are the CRDB or other databases continously being edited and expanded?
Alpha Foods vegan protein vanilla does not have amino acids data, but Pur Ya! vegan Protein Hemp Protein does have all of them in the entry. (They are both found in CRDB)
Yes, I added mostly branded foods, and felt so comfty with it the Code Scanning features etc ... 😊

  • Yes! We have staff adding new foods and editing existing foods each day! It all depends on what information we have available from the company that makes the product.
