Scanning broken since last update
Title says it all. Tested on multiple items.
Please fix that.
Additionally, please test the app before new releases, this is recurrent.

Hi AlexC,
Sorry we've not been able to see reproduce this issue. Could you tell us a bit more about what is happening on your device? Is your camera opening? Is the app freezing? Or does it crash? Does it reach any further screens like the add food screen, or create new food? Does it return you to food search or the diary?
Any other info you can think of would help us investigate some more.
Thank you!

Camera opens, items scans, but instead of showing the scanned item it just goes back to the "choose an item" screen. No freeze, no crash. I tried to force close + reopen, same behavior.
-
Thanks! I've logged a bug and we'll continue to investigate

thank you

Same here. Scanning is broken.
-
Any update? Not being able to scan items is quite annoying. This was working fine not even 2 weeks ago
-
-
We're working on it! I'll update this thread when we send out a fix.

oddly it doesn’t happen for every product ; I’ve attached a picture of a product where scanning fails
-
I have the same issue since the last update of the app. Very frustrating!
-
Same for me, after scanning it goes to the "Search" screen like nothing happened.
-
Ditto. Here’s another product that won’t come up.
-
This is why I came here. It's becoming quite frustrating. At least 50% of the items I consume regularly no longer scan, but they used to. It's not like it doesn't recognize the item; it doesn't prompt to add a new item, just returns to the search screen. Others work fine. I've tried restarting my phone and reinstalling the app (wiping all data upon uninstall). Neither had any effect. I have an iPhone Xs running iOS 14.8.

Sorry. Duplicate post.

We've sent a fix out in v.3.11.2
We've been testing it on our end, but would love to hear how it's working for you all in this update?

seems to be working, at least with the barcode I’ve posted earlier
can you please ask your dev team to conduct more extensive testing before releasing updates?
thank you
-
My app still says version 3.11.1. How can I update it to the version that you mentioned?
-
Mine was updated this morning and it's working! Thanks for the fix!
-
If it doesn't appear in your automatic updates, you can manually update your app by searching for Cronometer in the App Store or Google Play Store.

Unfortunately this seems to be happening again with the latest update. Instead of kicking straight back to the search screen I do briefly see the search results for the barcode but then I’m kicked back to search.
Here’s a trouble barcode.

Sorry about that NJ21! What version of the app is listed at the bottom of the Settings tab?

Sorry, should’ve added that. It’s v3.12.0 (b1106-IF-s).
By the way, it’d be nice if we could just copy the version number to the clipboard instead of having to transcribe.
-
Good idea!
There's another option in the Settings tab to Send feedback & help us improve, that will send the version number along with your report automatically as another option! Find it under the Help section.
Though I love hearing from ya'll on the forums too

I think I can better characterize the issue I’m still seeing. (This is on iOS, btw.)
- start multi add
- search for and add “Apple, Fresh, With Skin” from NCCDB — I think bringing the keyboard up here may be key
- enter explicit gram weight
- tap Save
- now immediately try to scan
- results for the scan will briefly appear and then clear
- if you tap “Done” on the keyboard to hide it, the scan results will remain
My current version is now 3.12.1 (b1115-IF-s)
-
Thanks for the steps NJ21, that was super helpful!
