Error on Importing Recipes
Hello --
I am using version 4.23.0 b1932-ib
I have not been able to use the Import Recipe feature since this release. I previously had created several Custom Recipes from my New York Times Cooking account, but can now receive an error.
I have also tried importing recipes from BettyCrocker.com and Foodandwine.com -- both have the same error message as the NYT Cooking import that I have included below. Is this error related to the current Beta release?

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We apologize for any inconvenience it has caused you.
Indeed, the problem you're experiencing with the Import Recipe feature is specific to the beta build. I've already created an issue for our development team to address this promptly.
In the meantime, if you need to import recipes urgently, you can utilize the import feature on cronometer.com as a temporary workaround. Alternatively, if you prefer to wait until the issue is resolved, you can opt out of the beta program.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

FYI I experienced a similar error, although more specifically with the Paste Ingredients section of the import. I believe I ended up doing it through the web, but I also found that if I inserted a new (blank) line after the final item, I could get it to import recognize the list items.
Unfortunately since I forgot to report it at the time (it was the end of the day and I just wanted to get to bed), I can't recall if that new line workaround was for the mobile app or the web.

I cannot import recipe and when I copy, paste it only calculates one ingredient. Why can’t I enter nutrional info by hand in this case. Very frustrating.

Hello, sorry you are experienceing frustration with the recipe importer - I want to help! What is the website URL of the recipe you are having an issue with? When you try to copy and paste ingredients, is there an error message? Can you paste the ingredients here so I can try? It will help me find the route cause of the problem.
Thank you!

I was able to copy & paste but the calorie count is way off from the recipe and I can’t figure out how to change it.
Recipe is here. https://www.womansworld.com/food-recipes/burger-bowls-recipe-viral-all-in-1-tiktok-meal-steps
Attached is the photo of chronometer calculation. Recipe is for 3 servings one serving is
at 416 calories. -
Thank you for providing the website. I was able to copy-paste the ingredients and it appears the information you referenced on the website may be inacurate.
Here is a breakdown of the actual caloric content for the recipe based on the amounts used:
^ in this recipe I had to replace a few items for accuracy. Originally it imported 'sweet potatoes' which I changed to 'Russett potatoes' and 'Parmesean cheese' to '50% reduced fat cheddar'.
After importing a recipe it is a good idea to check that what was imported matches what the recipe called for. As a sanity check I also pasted these ingredients into chatGPT and got similar results.
I see my carbs are lower than what you imported but would not make up the difference in kcal per serving:
The discrepancy between 416kcal and 1027kcal may result from incorrect portion sizes, ingredient substitutions, or an oversight on their part.
To ensure accuracy, we use standard nutritional data from reliable sources such as the USDA FoodData Central and NCCDB.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. We’re here to help ensure you have the correct information for your dietary needs.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Wow! So the magazine was off that many calories?! I think I am going to cry as all my dinners come from magazines & Food Network. My cook only follows recipes under 600 calories, so now I have to import and calculate every recipe before he shops. Not sure it’s worth the trouble 🙁😌

Seems odd the website would be off by that much, but the calculations are correct. I tried to figure out how they got 416kcal - even if it was just the burger bowl it would still be aprox 650 kcal (without sauce and fries) for 1 serving. Maybe you could ask the websites you trust how they calculate the calories for their recipes?
Best,

Yes obviously there is a problem in the recipe he used. It was a publication he normally doesn’t use. He usually gets them from food network. Still can’t import those but can copy & paste

How about if you try using 80 or 85% lean ground beef instead? I'm not sure if it'd make up that many calories, but it should at least put a nice dent in the numbers.

We used grass fed 90/10 beef, air fried potatoes and used reduced fat cheese & mayo. Support calculated it that way and it was still high, I’ve just come to terms that the recipe was way off so we won’t use that publication anymore. It was just the first recipe I imported so it really threw me.
