Please help me understand how Cronometer works with a Garmin Watch

Hello, I have been using Cronometer for the past two months and I love it! For the past months I used an Apple Watch to track my calories and workouts and the calorie sync was straightforward and easy to understand on the app.

Recently I bought a Garmin Vivoactive5 watch, and I have some questions that I would like to ask because I’m confused.

1st.- On todays strength training workout, the Garmin app says that I burned 349 total calories. However, the Cronometer app only synced 254 calories. This is because the calories of the Garmin app include BMR and to not duplicate BMR calores the Crono app deducts Garmin’s BMR, right? In other words, the 95 calories difference on this workout are BMR calories, correct?

2nd.- I wore my Apple Watch 23/7 and today I wore my Garmin watch all day. Comparing the burned calories on Tuesday of this week (with a Garmin watch) and Tuesday of last week (with an AW) theres a huge difference of the burned calories (around 420 calories) considering I did very similar workouts. Why there’s such a difference? Is it because the AW only calculates Active Calories, while the Garmin calculates “Active” and “Resting” calories under the “Daily Activity” section? Is there something I’m doing wrong or missing?

Thanks!
