Incorrect calories from fitbit on force sync

When forcing sync with Fitbit, activities are created in cronometer with extreme calorie counts (from 1500 to above 4000).

The activity calories are higher than the running total in Fitbit for the day. These activities do not appear in Fitbit.

The issue first appeared on 2024-09-03.

  • This happened without 'force sync' in my case - just noticed it this afternoon.

  • Im having the same problem. Happened in the middle of the day. Saying I did over 2000 calories by mid afternoon. No way! Then I try resyncing everything and it disappears to the next day!!!

  • I am having a similar problem, I believe this occured as Cronometer was working on the problem where Fitbit data was not syncing at all.

I imagine they are continuing to work on this and will have it fixed soon.

In the meantime, I noticed that at least for me, the number of calories appears to be off by approximately what my BMR is set to in Cronometer.

As a temporary workaround, I made a custom food that is just 1 calorie, and I add the amount of my BMR to my diary so that I can keep track of my goals.

  • I was having the same issue yesterday (Sept 3) after the app not being able to sync at all with Fitbit for the two days prior. It appears Cronometer was pulling in both activity and BMR data from Fitbit and adding it to its own internal BMR instead of only using the activity info and excluding Fitbit's BMR like it usually does.

It looks like the.Cronometer team has it all fixed now. As of this morning, mine is syncing properly with Fitbit and is once again correctly calculating activity vs BMR between the two apps. T

  • This isn't fixed for me. The activity being pulled in from Fitbit is still way overstated. I have been deleting it, but every time it syncs, it pulls it back in.

  • yeah, yesterday's numbers are now correct but today's numbers are wrong

  • Yikes - same here. I deleted the last couple days and resynced when I got up this morning and those days are now correct, so I thought all was well. But like mv21, today's activity is way too high. It's showing 759 kcal of activity and I've only done a couple loads of laundry and walked around the kitchen enough to make breakfast.
