Oura ring calories
coming back from a break to Cronometer. I used to be able to walk/exercise and see my calorie budget go up. I come back now with a oura 3 and I have a big calorie burn before I get out of bed! That ain’t right.
Oura ring users - how are you making these things work together correctly?

There is a setting in the app to change this. I use a Polar Ignite watch right now. I like when I set a daily caloric intake and manually add in or sync in calories burned. However, what is happening is that it is calculating TDEE (total daily energy expenditure}. I never liked to manage my weight and calories like this.
Basically, TDEE calculates your BMR, a rough estimate of your daily calorie burn (non-exercise), thermogenic burn from eating/digestion, and any exercise that is logged. No exercise logged, it does not add it into the daily burn.
But what it does is, it will show a huge calorie deficit upfront, until you start logging food. It already accounts for your BMR and daily activity in the deficit. What I like is knowing the BMR and daily activity deficit and keeping that as a daily target and I log my food and stay under this target.
In the app when it comes to energy settings and macro targets it is a bit confusing. I am still trying to figure it all out. I like setting macros as a ratio percentage. However, you can set it in grams or by kcals. It doesn't come out right along with the TDEE. I am still confused and working on this myself. It is one of my frustrations right now.
