Allulose

Please add allulose a sugar alcohol. Not having it really messes up net carbs.

    Hi @TyphoidMary ,
Thanks for the suggestion! This is actually on our list and in progress! We think this would be useful too! :)

  • It almost deserves its own category - I've read Allulose (D-psicose) is technically a sugar, not a sugar alcohol. but it has an ultra low glycemic index. D-psicose is a C-3 epimer of D-fructose...

    You've got great chemistry @chunky !

That's the approach we are taking. Since it is not a sugar alcohol it should be listed separately, but still subtract from total carbs if you chose not to include sugar alcohols (and allulose) in your calculation of net carbs.

  • +1. Any update on when this feature might be released?

  • Hi clrudolphi,

This was incorporated into a larger project that we are working on. No date of release to report yet.

  • Hi Karen -

It's been a year - any update on when Allulose will be counted correctly in the App? This is pretty frustrating for those of us who use it as our main keto friendly sweetener. On my own recipes I can just leave it out and use a different sweetener in the recipe for the bulk/weight tracking, but this is less than ideal. For any products that contain it it makes it very difficult to track carbs properly.

  • Hi @Chris_S This has not yet been implemented as it is a part of a larger project. Stay tuned on our social media and forums for more updates. I can certainly appreciate how this could be useful for certain carb tracking/ diet practices.

It’s been nearly another year. Has there been any progress on this? Given how prominent Cronometer is in the keto community, I would think this would have been addressed by now.

  • Hello,

Until we are able to track allulose separately, our curation team includes the value in sugar alcohols. If you have you are tracking net carbs without sugar alcohols, then the products we have added to the database will subtract the amount of allulose too! We have made the assumption that most users would benefit from subtracting allulose. I would recommend using this workaround when creating custom foods too.

We are going to separate allulose as a separate nutrient under sugar and in the future users will be able to choose whether or not they would like to subtract allulose.
