Apple calorie duplication

Hello! I’m not sure if this has already been asked, but I’ve been noticing after starting to use Cronometer again with an Apple Watch (recently upgraded from an older Fitbit) that the burned calories are duplicated from Apple health, and then for each individual workout I logged. Is there any way to change this, either on the Apple health side or Cronometer side?

    Hi cal_pal,

You can edit your Apple Health permissions on your Apple device to import exercise minutes and/or workouts:

I am seeing the same problem as the original poster. The cronometer app is reading the “Active Energy” metric from Apple Health, which includes all active calories from both logged activities and unlogged movement. It is then also including individual logged activities, which results in the double counting of those burned calories.

    Hi VeganCloud,

I have logged a bug to have the developers look into fixing this. Would you mind writing our team at support@cronometer.com? Some screenshots of the breakdown in Apple Health compared with what Cronometer has imported would be a great help!

    Cheers,

Thanks Karen, I have sent an email with screenshots.

A workaround that I have found for now is to disable the Workouts read permission in the Health app for Cronometer, so that it only reads the Active Calories metric (which is sufficient and correct on its own).
