How can you add foods without adding it to your diary
I’m just starting and it seems like there is no option to just spend an hour adding foods unless it goes on the diary. Is the is the only way?
also, the “my foods” doesn’t include other items I tried to add that are on a diary entry.
any help greatly appreciated.

I am new also. When I look up a food I know I will eat, I put it on my favorites list so I can easily look it up later to add to my dairy later. Just figured that out. Not sure about your other ? Because I am still learning how to use the program.

Hi Francine,
You can search for foods in the database without adding them to your diary. Are you interesting in looking up the nutrition information? On our website, check out the Foods tab, then Search Foods. You can view the full nutrient profile for foods without adding them to your diary for the day.
Or are you looking for more of a planning tool for creating meal plans for days in the future? You can navigate to any day in your diary and input a meal plan. Or save the whole meal plan as a custom recipe to add to your diary later. You can also right-click a recipe in your diary and 'Explode' it to show the individual foods - that makes it easy to make any adjustments to portion sizes as needed.

Hi Karen, thanks for the response. I am looking to go through my cupboards and just add everything in there so that I don't have to worry about scanning and so forth. But I'm getting better at adding the ingredients as I make a recipe.
Everytime I add something to the diary I have to scan and enter so I feel like I'm doing this the long way. I want to add my pantry and put all those foods in my favorites. Not sure how to do this. -
Hi Francine,
It sounds like you're on the right track with scanning the foods and creating custom foods where you need to (here's a user manual article on creating custom foods in the mobile app, just in case: https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019866351-Mobile-Create-a-Custom-Food)
Here's how to mark foods as a Favorite: https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018955211-Mobile-Add-a-Food
Then you can use the Food Search filters described in the article to search only your list of Favorites when you are ready to add foods to your diary.

You could scan the food, submit all the details if it's not already in the database, mark it as a favourite then delete it from the diary. Deleting it from the diary will not change the database entry.
