TEF option?

I saw the new option to factor the TEF into your calorie goals. I've read a little about it, but I think I'm only more confused about whether I should turn it on, or if the BMR calculation algorithm is approximating it well enough. I see it's set off by default, but is there a reason to turn it on?

    Good question!

    This is part of the energy you burn each day so using TEF could give you a fuller picture of your total energy burned. However, if you're energy settings are already meeting your needs, you don't have to turn it on. It's cool to see more numbers (if you're into the nitty gritty details) though, like other nutrient targets, these are estimates for the general population.

    TEF is higher for protein, followed by carbs and it is quite a bit lower for fats, so it would have more of an impact for high protein diets compared with, say, a high fat diet.
