PC web app scrambles the Droid app text box formatting

edited January 2018 in Bug Reports

I have found an issue between the way the phone and PC apps handle a text field.

The phone will allow me to put my data entries neatly - one on it's own line,
and it stays that way UNTIL the PC app touches that text box by opening or editing it from the PC. The text then is all strung together on one line and hard a hades to read OR to edit.

Have a great night support team. :-) See you next "issue" :-)

  • Do you mean the notes section in a custom food or recipe? You can change the size of the box on your computer by dragging the bottom right corner to make it the size you would like. We keep it fairly small by default to reduce clutter on that page. If you are speaking about a different text field please let me know.
    Cheers :)

  • No Hilary that is the box, and no matter how you resize it. The add ingredient box opens over it and keeps you from reading the recipe as you add ingredients.

Like everything else there is a kludge fix like opening another window of the same recipe ( I think this might work but have not tried it) but it's just another long list of kludges rather that eloquent, intuitive, easy to use software.

I know you guys are trying. I am Scott /Irish you will have to excuse my "passion" and frustrations. it is with the SW and not you guys.

    TTYL and thanks

  • I have tried to reproduce this issue, but it seems to be working fine for me. Could you please send a screenshot of the issue to support@cronometer.com?
    Thanks

  • JC! I was completely mistaken and now can not edit the above..... I have so many posts out that I confused this one with another...

I am was talking about Notes in the dairy on the phone or on the web version.
I make a note in the daily diary nice and neat and as soon as the PC apps touches it. It is hard as hades to read. What ever happened to WYSIWYG?

    Thanks

  • To follow up,
I discussed this issue with my coworkers - if the issue is that the notes show up in a list format in mobile and as a line format on web, this issue is already being looked into!
    Thanks for your patience!

  • Thanks Hillary... that is good news. I have really disliked the way the PC app handles the notes.

On another note. I have noticed a "issue" with the forum that I have not found a solution to:

This forum will not thread a discussion like this, and it can be very confusing if the discussion is longer like this one.

For instance, if I reply to a question up higher in this discussion, it appears here at the end, rather than right under the question, where it is put into context.

"Real" forums such a phpBB and most others, do this as I recall, and is a much better way to handle any lengthy discussion. I guess we are stuck with what we see, unless there are configuration options in the backend that would allow this discussion to be properly threaded as I am used to.

I do however like some of the things you can do in these editors. I have not really poked around here yet to see what she will do. But the editor seems capable enough other than the fact that it is not threaded....

    Take care
    Joe

  • Maybe I spoke too soon. I don't see a search box here. Perhaps it is context sensitive and I have to be elsewhere to see it. If so that is a shame. I hate the learning curve for context sensitive features. I find them confusing rather than useful.

I will look around and see as I can not imagine any forum without good search capabilities.

    Good night all.

  • Hi Joe,
You can search on the main forum page for a keyword or you can look in your own profile page on the Forum to see threads you have responded to.

I found it and assumed as much but thanks anyhow Hilary. You must be on the left coast, or they have an after hours support staff. :-) Go to bed! And that is an order! JK

  • Vanilla forums huh? Way out of my price range with less features than the free BBS's.
The low learning curve is the selling point I guess. A LOT better than Yahoo Groups that many people tend to use unfortunately. Try and search and find something on a Yahoo group. It's just a black hole where all of your posts are lost forever and useless.
I guess this is not so bad considering the people that it is meant to serve.

Markdown could be simpler. I have never been a fan of how most forums do HTML.

Now go to bed! And I should also. :o

  • Really? So you live in the Socialist country to the North? :D
While I live in the country to the south that has implemented all 10 planks of the communist manifesto....

TEN PLANKS OF THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO
    http://www.criminalgovernment.com/docs/planks.html
Scary to think of what that makes us.

    Thanks for the clarification Hilary.
I envy the heck out of you, if you live anywhere near the ski areas of the Canadian rocky's. Skiing is the mot enjoyable thing that one can do with their clothes still on. o:)
