Vitamin K 2, and another request

Two requests:

  1. Will we eventually be able to track consumed Vitamin K 2 (MK-7, MK-4)?

  2. What is the chance of getting a new column added to the Diary screen so we can record notes to each individual entry on the Diary?

Thanks,

Mike

  • Seconding request #2

  • I agree! I know there is not much research on k2 food nutrition. But some can be found online at "The Ultimate K2 Resource' by Chris Masterjohn, PhD. It has a food search option.

  • I have been using the Chris Masterjohn DB too. It is really good. So why not use it?

I think a happy and correct solution would be this:

Crono fortunately has many "generic foods" curated by the Crono team. I like using these foods a lot as they have such big numbers of nutrients. This is a particularly precious part of Crono contributing to superior data quality (hey @Karen_Cronometer is that your work? ❤)

Now, these generic foods could be equipped with K2 data.

    What do you think?

Unfortunately K2 data is not available to us under our licencing agreements with our Lab analysed Data Sources. When data becomes available from our trusted sources, we will add it to our database.

You can learn more about our data sources here: https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018239472-Data-Sources

  • So you do not trust the Chris Masterjohn DB? I ask out of real curiosity what your criticism is, would be interested to learn!

But anywise, why don't you give us, the users, the option to add what ever we want and consider fit? Here is for example this absolutely simple and great feature request:

    https://forums.cronometer.com/discussion/798/custom-variables-addable-to-foods-ie-to-be-shown-below-micro-nutrients

So if I want K2 data, I can just "edit a copy" any food, add a K2 entry, and add whatever data I want. There are so so many feature requests in this line. Some people want DHA and EPA, etc etc. This way you served all those dozens of requests wanting anything under the sun...
