  • I have been saying it like "chronometer". You have been pronouncing it C-R-O-N-O-meter?

  • lol yeah! the stand alone java app is spelled CRON-O-Meter...CRON is an acronym for calorie restriction with optimum nutrition. i thought the dash -OH- and meter was a attempt at humor. so yes i call it CRON, OH, Meter.....lol

maybe we'll be graced by Aaron to set the record straight....

It started out as Cron-O-meter, but you will hear both Cron-O-MEEter and Cronometer flying around the office -sometimes even in the same sentence!

in case anyone's curious of the origins of the supreme diet tool.

just to put some weight in the Cron-O-MEEter camp...

  • @bracconiere mee-too!

  • cron - rhymes with Ron, o - rhymes with dough, and meter - rhymes with Peter.
I'm not getting what the other version is. Do people mean the o is sometimes pronounce like "ah" ? And do you mean sometimes people pronounce it starting with a c, h, ? Why would they add an h? I'm confused. :/

  • Do you mean they pronounce it crow-no-meeter?
By the way, why does the apple have a dart in it? I never really noticed that till this thread. Or, it's to do with gravity? Aim to eat more apples? Just wondering. :D

  • If you look closely you'll notice that the arrow and its shadow resemble the hands of a clock. The tail of the arrow also resembles a heart and the middle of the apple is a target. I'm sure it all has some deep and significant meaning but I'm concerned by the lack of dots.

  • I think the old java app was CRON-o-Meter, a funny take on a name for a tool to help CRON dieters...

then when Aaron went pro they dropped the -'s and started pronouncing it like a time piece....

I still call it cron-o-meter though, it adds a layer of humor to something so powerful!

  • So cupid has something to do with cronometer? And he will strike at 5 o clock? Cronometer will help us find love? Or it's to do with a deep love of apples. I'm going to go eat an apple and ponder this.

  • Okay, I'm still confused but I'll just let it go now. ^^ Thank you for trying. Have a good day.

  • "I still call it cron-o-meter though" but isn't this what it's currently named? The heading looks like cronometer and the website is cronometer.

a timepiece or timing device with a special mechanism for ensuring and adjusting its accuracy, for use in determining longitude at sea or for any purpose where very exact measurement of time is required.
any timepiece, especially a wristwatch, designed for the highest accuracy.
The university pronounces it like the timepiece:
