Added Sugar
Now that 2020 has arrived will begin to see more foods listed that include added sugars? I undersrand that this is a requirement for large food companies beginning this year. This will be a big help for those of us wanting to limit added sugars.

As a dietitian, I'm very excited to see the Canadian food industry unveil their new labels that will provide much more informative data to consumers.

Hi Nemo,
We are also looking forward to having more nutrition data! As more companies update their labels, the curation team will continue to add the added sugar values for branded products to our database.
Cheers,

Is the added sugar category not accurate in Cronometer? I saw someone mention that in 2020 more food labels will have it for branded foods but is this a category that should not be a highlighted nutrient as it may not be accurate?

Hi AMDWellness,
There are still a large number of products that do not have the new labels that started rolling out in 2016, so there will be a number of foods that do not have a value for added sugar in Cronometer. We will continue updating added sugar as the data becomes available though.
