Late Night Appetite

I generally eat supper at 6 pm, which completes my calorie requirements for the day. As the evening wears on I get increasingly hungry and by bedtime, about 11 pm, am very hungry. Any suggestions for coping with this?

  • I have run into that as well. As with all such things YMMV, but for me: 1) start the food window as early as possible in the day; 2) don't regularly (i.e., most days) make late evening a time of intensive social activity (e.g. late concerts or parties); 3) make supper one of the larger meals, if not the largest; 4) include heaps of foods like leaves (e.g. kale) in the late meal (which also helps avoid acidity which can cause hunger, reflux, and such)

This usually happens if you aren't eating enough (or enough protein/fibre) earlier in the day. Be sure to eat every 3-4 hours, including satiating foods.

If your workout occurs after dinner, I would also include a small bedtime snack.
