Custom Nutritional Targets

In the Profile tab under Nutritional Targets, there are a number of Custom values that come toggled on by default. I was toggling these off to see how the values would change and then realized that they were getting deleted and could not be restored. Is there a way to restore them? How were the original values determined?

Also, would it be possible to modify this feature, so that toggling off the custom values would dim them out, rather than delete them?

  • Hello @Paradox

To restore the Nutrient Targets, click on the gear symbol in the Nutrient Targets category and check "Show Highlighted Targets". You can customize which targets you want highlighted by clicking on the drop down for each nutrient.

I'd suggesting posting your request to modify this feature in the thread called "Feature Requests" so the developers can see it.

  • I'm having trouble entering my own macros. I'd like to enter protein, carbs, and fat as grams, but I cannot figure out how to do this.

  • @ESueM

To do this on a computer:

    1. Choose "Account Settings" from the menu in the top right hand corner.
    2. Scroll to the bottom where it says "Macronutrient Targets"
    3. Click on the drop down to set your own custom target, or to use one of Cronometer's pre-set targets.

  • Thank you, @Susan_RD_101 ; that is how I am trying to enter my macros. I cannot enter a number higher than 99, and one of my macros is 111 grams, so I cannot enter it.

  • Hello @ESueM ,

The custom setting under Macronutrient Targets allows you to set a ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fats that will be dynamically calculated based on your energy expenditure each day.

If you would like to set fixed targets for your macronutrients, instead choose Fixed Targets from the options for Macronutrient Targets.

Then look under Nutritional Targets on the left. You can enter in custom values for each nutrient by checking the box under Custom, then you can click on the minimum and/or maximum values to enter in your own custom numbers.

  • Hi @Karen_Cronometer! I have been trying to set custom fixed macronutrient targets, but I seem to be stuck on the dynamic setting. If I go to Settings on the app, I see Dynamic Macronutrient Targets and no option to select Fixed (that I can see). The macro targets I put in here are not the same as what is displayed in my diary. I found an option on the webpage under Account Settings to select "Fixed Targets" in the dropdown (still under a heading of Dynamic Macronutrient Targets though) and then then the options to insert my defined macros disappears. Can you help?

  • Hello @gem

In the app Settings the fixed target option is found by going to My Profile, then under Settings, tap Edit Macronutrient Targets. Beside Diet Profile, choose Default (Fixed Targets).

The next step is to edit each macronutrient target. Tap directly on the boxes beside each macronutrient listed, then tick the box to use your own custom values, then you will be able to enter in your own custom fixed targets.

    I hope that helps!

  • I should also mention, in the desktop version of Cronometer, the fields below the Dynamic Macronutrient Targets are to set a ratio of protein:carbs:fat. This will dynamically calculate the amount of macronutrients based on this ratio and your energy expenditure.

They disappear when you change to Fixed Targets because we are using the grams amounts listed under Nutritional Targets instead.

  • Entered my custom targets for Fats and Cholesterol in Diary, double-checked in Profile and yet the daily entry % is way off. My SatFat target is 1-11 g, yet 4.3g is showing as 430%! Bug or my entry issue?

  • @HealthyHoney

    Your percent targets are based on the Minimum that you entered, 4.3 g / 1 g = 430 %
The basic idea for these targets is that you aim to get 100% of the minimum value each day to have good nutrition, and for nutrients that have a maximum, you want to also not go over the maximum value.
