Biometrics: hip ( or waist to hip ratio), and biceps

Is it possible to add the above request on the list for "nee features" for the future?

Thanks, Mike

  • Hi @mike

You can create custom biometrics to record things like that. On the web app, click Add Biometric then click the green + icon on the left of the resulting dialog. The app will ask you to name the biometric and a unit of measurement (i.e. "inches" if measuring biceps).

Once you create it, you can log it like any other biometric from then on.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,

    Spencer

    Hi Spencer,

Great, I was able to add the custom biometrics but unable to trend it, what is the trick?

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hi @mike

If you look under the Trends tab, you can see your biometrics under Charts. On the web app, just under the Calories Consumed chart, you can select a biometric including custom biometrics you have added to plot in the graph below.

The android app follows the same procedure, Trends -> Charts -> swipe to biometrics (mine shows weight by default) -> then tap 'Weight' to change which biometric you would like to chart.

Hi, where do I find the option to add a custom biometric, please? I can't find it, sorry :( Or do I understand 'custom' wrong and you just mean to chose one of the given biometrics, please? I'd like to add my own.
Than you so much in advance!

Using the web app, Add Biometric in your diary, then hit the green plus sign on the left. Give your custom biometric a name and unit of measurement and then you can start adding it do your diary. Once created, your custom biometric will appear in the drop down menu.

Here is a video that demonstrates how to create your own biometrics. I think the custom biometric part is around minute 3.

  • I got all excited when I found this thread. This is exactly what I am looking for. I was just going back through old posts because I couldn't understand why it hadn't been requested already.

My excitement was short lived. The feature is only available to gold subscribers. 😥

My feature request is move this into the base offering. It is the only thing stopping me from shutting down my MFP account. It would be so nice to have one less app.

If you aren't prepared to let the free app have custom metrics at least expose a few more of the most popular ones.

  • @mtb13 Totally understand the wish to get everything for free - I am a student on a student loan myself right now. However, I am willing to pay the annual fee for the custom biometrics, nicer layout, and the ratio metres etc. I am paying for my son and myself (family discount and tabs wave at Crono!). I see it as support to this company to keep this awesome app running and getting better. They need to have their servers, keep our data safe, employ naturopaths who write blogs and answer questions ...and s o much more ... The basic version is already very well equipped. This app has been more helpful to me than my family doc.

  • @TheVeryHungryMommy

I like to support good apps and will probably end up subscribing once I get rid of a few more. I've experimented with many nutrition and activity trackers. They all have strengths and weaknesses.

If Cron was the only app I used subscription would be a no brainer. Once I get the keep list small enough I'll subscribe to the survivors.
