  • Hi SarahHH,

When you enter in your date of birth, the targets are adjusted for you automatically! The Dietary Reference Intakes are specific for your age group, sex and life stage.

  • super, thank you

My birthdates are entered relatively unedited, but sometimes it corrects the values by itself. I wanted to calculate data for two children, and now I can't change the value. So the calculations can be inaccurate. The dietary data summary was too high, even though the baby just started eating at the adult table and stopped using the pacifier with dummy clips. According to the DOB, we decided to move him to a nutrient-dense diet, but he is getting too many carbs. But he needs to adjust his nutrition based on age or daily activity.

I would highly recommend consulting a dietitian with expertise in pediatric health when interpreting information from Cronometer for your children. Because kids need enough fuel for growth, it's important to ensure ample amounts of all food groups and nutrients are provided. If you put in your children's ages, you can get a sense of what their requirements are for various vitamins and minerals. However, I encourage extreme caution when interpreting calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc. as we don't want to interfere with how much kids eat unless it's medically indicated (and then, it should be done under medical supervision).

    Hope this helps!
