Getting more Protein

What are more ways to add protein?

It depends on how you'd like to add protein. Many foods (other than pure fats, fruit, or some vegetables) contain ample amounts of proteins. There's also the options of deriving protein from plants or animals (or a mix of both).

The main categories of protein (and how you could increase intake) include:

    • Meat, fish, chicken (preference for leaner sources, such as salmon and poultry)
    • Dairy foods (choose low % milk fat - plain Greek yogurt, low-sodium cottage cheese, skim milk powder, etc.)
    • Eggs
    • Beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, etc.
    • Nuts, seeds (including hemp seeds)
    • Protein powder and bars (always choose those lowest in sugar)
