Carbs from Baking Cocoa

Question on counting carbs from Equal Exchange Baking Cocoa. On the label it states 2g carbs per 1 tbsp with 2 g of dietary fiber. 0 g Sugar. Is it still necessary to enter this carb total in overall carbs? Making chocolate non dairy ice milk and wow, the amount the recipe calls for comes out to 1/3 of my total daily carb intake just for the chocolate. I've tried adding less cocoa, but it just doesn't taste as good.

    It seems as if all the carbs in this product are from dietary fibre. With carb counting, we don't include fibre as part of the carb total, so I don't think you need to enter this product.

    It sounds like you might like to track net carbs rather than total carbs. In the Profile tab, find the Macronutrient Target settings. Next, turn on the option to use net carbs.

    If you are creating a custom food for the baking cocoa, I would recommend recording 2 g carbohydrates and 2 grams of fibre. By choosing Net Carbs in your settings, the software will automatically subtract the fibre from total carbohydrates and show you 0 grams of net carbs. If you were to enter a zero for total carbohydrates, this may lead to issues when calculating the correct amount of carbs in the future.

    It looks like we have "Equal Exchange, Baking Cocoa" in our database already - so you could add that to your diary instead.

  • It is in the database, but it counts the total carb and does not subtract out the fiber, so therefore, my macros would be incorrect

    Cronometer gives users the option to track total carbs or net carbs.
    If you would like to automatically subtract the fibre from your foods, select the net carbs option.

    In the Profile tab, under Macronutrient Targets, select Net Carbs.
    You can also choose whether to include sugar alcohols in net carbs (box ticked beside 'include sugar alcohols in net carbs') or subtract sugar alcohols (un-tick the box).
