Re: Would love to hear from post menopausal weight loss successes.
Hi jorieob - (Hey Debee, my story seems similar to yours) I'm 14+ years post menopause, age 59, no health issues and have been doing Dr M's FFF MMT plan about 2 months. Hubby is onboard EXCEPT while I use Cronometer and stay perfectly on track with the grams and percentages of the 'rigorous' Keto plan and am fat-burning and in ketosis - he doesn't use Cronometer and eats 3x of what I do and is fat-burning and in ketosis AND is experiencing the same weight loss numbers as me (we've each lost 18 lbs in 2 months and each have about 10 to go). I'd like to know how that works, since I eat like a mouse and he eats like a lion. We love the way we feel eating LCHF Keto: no hunger or cravings, clear sharp mind, high energy all day, less inflammation, less aches and pains ... so we're staying the course till we arrive at our weight loss goals and then we'll ease up some and I'll go from 'rigorous' to 'moderate' Keto and see how that 'fits' for me/us. Oh, and we love our after dinner fat bomb!
Re: Friend Info
Hi @Fitbiz1 - I know this too!!! (again, no expert and btw, I responded to your recipe explode question again)
As far as I know, the only thing you will see with your friend is the recipes you each create. You won't see any of their data - although that may be different for a pro membership.
In order to view their recipes, simply click on "Add Food" in your diary. There are a series of tabs at the top of the pop-up. If you choose the last option - "custom", your recipes and your friend's will show up in the list. In order to actually view the recipe, you will need to enter a serving into your diary and then when you right click you can view the entire recipe and nutrient info. hth
Re: Introductions
@Aaron : Wow. Super honoured to meet the creator! Been using Cronometer for soooo long now... It's simply part of my life. So... with reverence... really big thank you's your way! All the best to you and yours.
Re: Welcome to Ask An Expert!
Does anyone check for discrepancies on foods entered? I had purchased Manitoba Hemp Hearts Raw Shelled Hemp Seeds at Costco in California (USA) when I saw it already on your list I was using those measures. When I questioned some of my totals for the day I found my bar code was different, Iron was 30% on yours and 20% on mine and I have no idea where the Omega #'s came from, because my bag didn't even mention Omegas...I have entered my own package info when I can't find one that fits...just curious where these other numbers come from.
Re: Introductions
Hello, I go by LLJames.
I've been using Crono for a while to understand my macros. Breaking down what I eat in front of me, helps me to make the most out of my health goals by eating the most nutrient dense foods in becoming leaner and gain more muscle.
I've been an oil free vegan for over a year. This transition was due to a health issue from a very close family member and I did it to support this person. Although, I didn't expect any health improvements, the health benefits for both of us has been phenomenal.
I hope over time, Crono will ad a very good social network and improve upon the food database as well as types of exercise.
Thanks all for all of the work that you do in maintaining and or evolving and improving this valuable software.
LLJames
Lifetime Subscription
I know it's no longer offered anymore, and my roommate and I love Cronometer and will continue paying the annual subscription, but it would be nice if you offered the Lifetime in conjunction with the annual renewal.
Thanks for your consideration!

Re: New Recipe - raw ingredient weight versus cooked serving weight
I wouldn't use the weight option for your serving for something like this. Instead I would adjust the "servings per recipe" under "Serving Sizes" in the original recipe. Make it 4 servings, and then just eat a quarter of it and log it as one serving.
Re: Weight Loss Challenges
@sherbert
To add to what Susan mentioned. I love adding beans bean beans to everything. I also enjoy Barley which has been wonderful. Even Broccoli has a good amount of protein. 100 cal of broccoli has more protein than 100 cal of steak... now that's a plateful of broccoli vs a 2 inch square of steak but you get my point. Look at all the big strong animals that are "vegan". Horse, cows, elephants, gorillas, etc.
Besides, protein has been a huge buzz word for healthy... and yes... protein is a vital nutrient, BUT the amount we consume in the SAD diet is overkill and even dangers (look up kidney protein issues).
I track all my macros (carbs, protein, fat) via Crono and with my whole food diet I'm never lacking in any of them.
And to your cheese/egg comment. and I had mentioned I love MY cheese, eggs sausage, bacon, steak, hamburgers... on and on and on. Occasionally I miss them but once I decide to element is really isn't hard to go without. It's even empowering!!!
When I do desire a little treat, like once ever few weeks, I will find creative ways to mimic my favs. for example, Look up "Tofu scramble", get some plant based sausage and cheese, a tortilla and by god you have yourself a egg wrapped that could fool the best of them.
Hope this helps!
Re: Recipe Question
@Fitbiz1 - Let it be known that I am no expert! (just a habitual clicker/investigator.. )
That capability exists. Once you have entered the food into your diary, select it and then right click on it. Choose "explode recipe". You can then make changes in the amounts used of each ingredient, or even delete an ingredient - just for that day.
The same would be true if you wanted to substitute an ingredient - you would delete the unused ingredient in your diary after exploding the recipe. You would also need to add just that one substituted ingredient into your diary - then it would not be a permanent change to the original recipe. Make sense?
Re: Recipe Question
That's strange. When I enter a food into my diary that I've previously created as a recipe, if I choose to explode the recipe it simply lists all of the ingredients separately in my diary. Is it possible you are not noticing that instead of the named recipe it's just changing to the individual ingredients?
For example, I have a recipe for two scrambled eggs and two slices of melted cheese on it; cooked with butter. Sometimes I don't use both slices of cheese, sometimes I don't cook it with butter - I still enter that food that I've made into a recipe - into my diary. The recipe is simply named "2 scrambled eggs w/2 slices cheese" - and that is what shows up in my diary. Once it's there, I can select it, right click to open a drop-down, and click on "explode recipe". All it does is list allllllll of the ingredients, (the original named recipe is no longer there because it is all of the ingredients listed individually). So it lists the eggs, the cheese, and the butter and no longer lists the recipe name. Then, I can just change the cheese to one slice instead of two or delete it from the recipe for that day.
Sorry if this isn't helping. I don't use the app so it might behave differently on different devices.
