Re: Cronometer not sending food data to Google Fit?
Yea, I mentioned earlier that it only allows total calories, it's unfortunate that Virgin Pulse can't pull the info directly from Fitbit either.
I'm sorry to hear that the workaround won't be enough for you, thanks for mentioning your details as well, all we can do is hope Cronometer will eventually allow a direct exporting to Google Fit.

Re: Cronometer alternatives
Oh I see, I am not the only one then..... Fell off the good habits of tracking for a while then came back only to find all jigged around (not a huge problem in itself) but I agree the contrast onscreen is lacking and I mainly see a sea of white with very weak grey.....
I used to use the 'import recipe' from a link a lot, it saved me a lot of time entering items, only had to tweak and fix occasional issues, but that seems to have gone while the useless 'ask for suggestions' remains, carrying on suggesting the exact same food it always has for the past three years.... and the ask the Oracle, which is just a gimmick: for exaple, I checked for 'food high in potassium', limiting to maximum 25 results, and the firs ten results I get are 'leavening agents', 'baking powder', 'sparkling water alternatively sweetened', 'coffee, reduced caffeine'. 'hearts of palm, raw', 'Pepsi, zero sugar', 'clam juice' (clam juice???? is that a thing?), 'cream of tartar' and 'coffee prepared from grounds'...... mmmm.... better invite friends over for dinner too....
It looks like the developers are pushing towards an 'app' experience and expect - like most everybody else, that we'll all use the app instead of a PC or laptop in the future... but the thing is I can't see very well so phone apps are really a struggle for me, whereas I find my way a little more easily on the larger screen.
But hey, I guess, I can always go back even to pen and paper if needed, I guess that'd save me some money too :-(
Minimum calorie limits?
As far as I know, 1200 is the absolute minimum daily calories that is safe to consume, and even then, only for very short, sedentary women. But chronometer will offer calorie limits that are significantly lower than that. I recently updated my weight and noticed my calories dropped below 1200 yet again to compensate for that. I've even seen the app recommend less than 1000 calories. I understand this is an automatic calculation and I'm able to adjust my goal rate etc to avoid it, but it's troubling that if others don't know this info, they could be misled into drastically and dangerously under-eating.
It must be possible to have some type of notice pop up like "this rate of weight loss would require an unsafe calorie deficit so here is the safe minimum, and here is how long your loss will take at this rate" instead of just recommending things like literally only eating 800 calories/day if I were to adjust my goal to 1.75lb/week.

Re: Search diary entries for food
The more I think about it, the more I realize, that it is actually the main feature I need right now in my life. After years, I already know the nutritional value of things. What I still don't know is, what I can eat and what I can't. For that I need a way to search for foods I ate on specific dates.
I decided to write a small iOS app myself, just for this one function. Just tired of / done with waiting.
Re: Get Water and Sleep Data from Apple Health
I agree! This would be very helpful. What about a possible integration with either Waterminder... or since Waterminder syncs with Apple Health, grab the metrics from there.

Re: Get Water and Sleep Data from Apple Health
Yes, this! Would love to see this implemented. Tracking food daily is already tedious enough (in any app), but manageable enough for me to be able to enter it all in most days. Having to add sleep and water data (that is already being tracked in Apple Health) is too much of a chore for me to consistently keep up with on a daily basis. It's the reason I finally dropped $80 on a water bottle and paid for an automatic sleep tracking app lol.
Tracking water manually is SUCH a tedious process to keep up with on a daily basis. I tried WaterMinder, but was only able to stick with it for a couple of weeks before I eventually ended up ignoring the alerts and reminders. Eventually pulled the trigger on a water tracking bottle and it has been a game-changer for finally staying consistently hydrated and knowing when I'm coming up short.
These kinds of things are especially crucial for those of us that are going through bouts of depression where tracking these data points are super important, but we just don't care enough or have the motivation most days to consistently enter this info in manually, which makes it totally useless to use for charting over time.
All that said though, I love the app and the insights I've been able to gather so far and am looking forward to future updates. I appreciate that these integrations must be complex problems to implement, so I am patiently waiting to see them in a (hopefully) near-future update.
Re: Get Water and Sleep Data from Apple Health
Hi @DudeBuda,
We do not currently import water data from Apple Health. However, you can track water the same way as adding a food to your diary. For example, add Tap Water to your food diary. Then scroll to your nutrient targets and you will see the target bar for water begin to fill up.
You can also add Sleep as a Biometric in your Diary.
Thanks for the suggestion to add these from Apple Health! It would definitely be more convenient for many users! Look for updates in the future!
