Re: Water tracking 2.0
Eeek! I just got the new water tracking feature in the app and it caused numerous issues when I tried to use it:
- initial configuration was for cups instead of ounces. I noticed this after logging 36 of them (what I thought were ounces but were actually cups)
- In trying to fix it, every time I would click one of the cup images to delete it, it deleted an entry from my diary at the same time, starting from the bottom up. First the entry in my Vitamins & Supplements group and then the two entries in my dinner group. (I confirmed this by adding those entries back in and then trying to click on the cups again, and again the diary entries got deleted).
- It "flaked out" my display, causing my Dinner group to bump right up below my Lunch group, removing the little bit of white space that used to be between the two diary groups. I tried to clear the cache and remove it from memory to relaunch and clear that up, but it was about 15 minutes of waiting before it'd let me get back in. (This is related to another bug I reported (non-beta) about blank black screen when launching.)
I finally went to the beta web to undo undo all the water widget changes from there since it's definitely not usable in the app right now.
Re: Try our new Water Tracking feature!
Hi Crono team! I've been using the beta water tracking feature on the web, and it worked so well up until today!! The new user interface with the glasses of water that seem to hide the "water" entires in the diary is a regression - please bring back the old method. The glasses of water approach is how some of the other apps in this space operate, and it's just too difficult to account for different volumes of water one drinks during the day (glasses vs. bottles, etc.). It was also nice how the old method factored in H2O in food entries.
Re: Water tracking 2.0
I left a message in the app, but so it can be discussed here. I had logged 20 ounces earlier today by going to Diary, then clicking the + button and Add Water. Then I noticed the notification that the latest beta was downloaded and updated. When I opened the app, I saw the new water display in the Diary, but it showed my ounces was converted to cups (not a huge deal), but going to the Water Settings and switching to fl oz, it only shows 19.17 oz. Seems the conversion with the new feature isn't working exactly right. I can include a screenshot if needed.
Re: Why do my “Calories Consumed” not seem to match the grams consumed under my “Macronutrient Targets”?
The calories and the macronutrient values will be a bit off because each food is different in the actual amount of energy (calories) it contains.
It is generally accepted that carbs and protein are 4 kcals per gram, and fat is 9 kcals per gram - They are not - They are close but there is better data on some foods and we use that in the calculations for the macronutrients.
For example, some carbs are 3.8, 4.1, 4.3 kcals per gram etc. Same is true for protein and fats. That is why there will be a discrepancy, when our data is more accurate then the 4-4-9 crude estimation.
Re: Water tracking 2.0
Getting a web server error 500 when trying to access beta.cronometer.com after logging in. (Same results on both Firefox and Chrome - ad blocking turned off.)
Re: is there any way to change the way measurements for foods are shown
The high quality food database is great, except when the package you have in hand gives the weight in lb or oz, and the Add Food requires the weight in grams. The app could easily give an option to enter the weight in lb or oz, instead of gr.

Re: Search diary entries for food
Cronometer is the best app I've found. I'm more inclined to appreciate what this small company has brought to the market. The nutrient database isn't cluttered with erroneous and incomplete user-entered data.
I patiently wait for user interface changes to be implemented, but until something better comes along I will remain loyal to Cronometer. I have used various diet tracking programs over the last 30 years and this is the best yet. I will continue to use it until a better one comes along, or I take a break from nutrition and exercise tracking.
Was wanting to partner
I had planned on using Cronometer for 40K patients, but not getting any response from anyone has me looking at other solutions. Too bad this is the best software out there,
