Re: Water tracking 2.0
Hey CheriePie, I looked at your posts' revision history but it doesn't display anything. I do not know why it did not post for you. Feel free to repost your information about the discrepancy and I will pass it along to the devs.
Re: what are the remaining macronutrients made up of?!!
Ah ok, so its perhaps that food I have entered, the breakdown is not available for that food. Because yes, I can see which macronutrient is attributed to each food, but perhaps the macronutrient sub groups are not available. Shame ,but that would suggest why the stats don't add up, thank you
Re: Try our new Water Tracking feature!
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback on our recent water tracking feature update. We truly appreciate your detailed insights, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the changes.
We understand your concerns regarding the new user interface with the glasses of water and its impact on your tracking experience. Your feedback about the difficulty in accounting for different volumes of water consumed throughout the day, as well as the inclusion of H2O from food entries, is valuable to us. To address this, one of our key goals is to separate H2O tracking from food entries, allowing for a clearer distinction between water intake and other nutritional factors. Rest assured, you'll still be able to view total water intake from both foods and the water widget, with 'water' as a highlighted nutrient.
Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and for being a part of our journey to improve hydration tracking for everyone. We'll keep you updated on any developments and enhancements to the feature.
Re: Ability to reorder ingredients in recipes
Almost 5 years and it still isn't implemented?
Come on, Cronometer. This is a must feature!
I can't count the amount of times I'm tweaking a recipe, deleting old ingredients and adding new ones, and it's seriously annoying that now the ingredients I need to add first are displayed last!
Please let this happen.
Re: Ability to reorder ingredients in recipes
Original poster here. I found a workaround but I still wish they'd fixt it. Here is how it's done:
First of all, if you are modifying an existing recipe, be sure to "Edit a Copy" so you don't screw up what you already have. Then, create your recipe as you do now with new ingredients going at the bottom. When you are done, save it with a temporary name. Go to your diary and open up tomorrow's page which will be blank. Add your complete recipe to this day, say for breakfast. Then, right click the food you just added and choose "Explode Recipe." All of your ingredients will now appear and you can reorder them by dragging them up or down as you like. Once you have it the way you want it, highlight the entire group and right click on it. Select "Create Recipe From Selected Items." This will create the recipe with the ingredients ordered properly. Now give it your final name and click "Save Changes." You can then delete the original, unordered recipe with the temp name.
Re: What integration would you like to see next?
I use InBody to track my body stats but can't get them into Cronometer. I have a fitbit linked but no way to connect InBody to it either.
How to Gain Weight, Lose Fat and Build Muscle
I'm 54, 5'11'' and 170lbs. I'm vegetarian. No dairy but I do eat eggs. I'm in decent shape, done weight training on and off since high school. I'd estimate by my slightly showing abs that I probably have about 17-20% body fat. I'd like to put on about 10-15 pounds of muscle and get down to a lean 10-12% bodyfat.
I weight train about 5 days a week for about 30-45 min and do 30 min of zone 2 cardio those same 5 days.
Cronometer tells me in order to gain 1 pound a week, my calories should be around 2938 with the exercise and 2785 without. I guess the target becomes higher when you add exercise?
I'm not sure why the protein targets change daily because my weight has stayed between 168 and 170 for the last 3 months. I have not been consistently hitting my protein goals. Many days I do. Some days I'm at the 2/3 mark. It's a lot of work to eat 170-180 grams of protein on a primarily plant based diet. I'm doing protein powder shakes with raw eggs. Tempeh, seitan, legumes.
I notice that my weight starts to climb if I eat over 3000 calories/ day. It climbs slowly. However I find it hard to eat that many calories in a day. It's work.
That's the background. They say to gain weight/ muscle you need a calorie surplus. However, I am finding it hard to gain muscle/weight and lose belly fat. If I wanted to lose weight, I could do it easily. Seems when I skip a meal or two, I immediately drop weight. My problem is keeping the weight on as I get older. I've seen my father who has the same metabolism as me, wither away from 170lbs to 135-140 as he aged.
I am looking for some guidance on my diet with the aim of gaining muscle and increasing body fat at the same time.
Re: Search diary entries for food
We gather user feedback on a monthly basis, categorizing requests, as well as complaints to asses where we are seeing the most issues as well as areas for improvement. All work is prioritized primarily based on user needs as well as company resources, strategic planning, and professional use.
LOL, with over 4000 views this feature request must (this site doesn’t rank feature requests - another major deficiency) be the most wanted feature for the past 3 years.
Currently my options to input a meal I know I had in the last few months are…
1. Scroll through each day on my phone until I spot the meal, 90pages for 3 months, awesome, just wait a minute everyone while Dad scrolls through his phone at dinner for the next 20 minutes.
2. Leave the dinner table, go to the study, turn on the PC, login, export a csv, search the csv - yeah right, as if!
3. Make a recipe for every meal I ever eat. Not practical as this list gets so long I can’t use it anymore. End up with too many variations, and searching this list, you don’t know if you are finding the one that you had last month.
4. Skip entering and go watch TV with the family, leads to giving up logging.
What do I use instead, nothing because Cronometer is the best app I have tried.
The real shame is that Cronometer is like the best mobile/cell phone before the iPhone came out. I don’t think they understand that if they keep simplifying the data entry component they will get to a tipping point where A LOT more users would subscribe.
My vision is to point the camera at the plate and AI inputs the entire meal for you. This could start as recognising a previous entry that looks the same for example, then lead to recognising individual components and estimating portion sizes.
I’d say Cronometer you can have my idea, but they can’t do a text search so I’m sure it will instead show up in another app at some point and boom, end of the company like Blackberry etc.
But for now I would settle for a diary search function that a high school student could write. Actually let’s be real, a smart primary school student could write.
I can’t fathom this honestly, name one software with something called “diary” in it that you can’t search?
Answer: Cronometer.
It is such a shame, opportunities like this wasted.
Re: What integration would you like to see next?
Zepp/Amazfit device connectivity, because it's what I use. (They're more affordable, so in theory it's accessible to a wider range of people.) I currently use the Google Fit work around, but it's kind of a PITA getting everything to sync correctly, taking more micromanaging than I'd like. (It's inefficient.)
Re: Search diary entries for food
Been using Cronometer gold for about a year and a half now. I would like to add my vote to PLEASE PRIORITIZE this new feature being added. We need to be able to search our diary entries to be able to consistently see how we're logging our food. Logging consistently is even MORE important than accuracy when it comes to hitting your aesthetic and fitness goals. Right now, I have to manually scroll through individual days, often looking through several weeks of entries to find the way I logged a certain restaurant or recipe. That shouldn't be the case. Please complete this in 2023!
