Use cronometer to create a shopping list
I'd like to know what foods I've been eating and/or what I plan to eat. Ideally the app would show a list of foods, without duplicates, appearing in the diary over a given time period. This would be very useful for creating a shopping list. Maybe I missed something but I don't see a way to do this easily. What I can do is export servings (Profile/Account Information/Gear Icon/Export Data) to Excel and in Excel use Data/Remove Duplicates on the Food Name column. That's very useful, but it would be nice to be able to do this within the app. Additionally showing # occurences for each food would be a plus. Thanks!
Re: protein requirements
We definitely shouldn't be basing nutrition recommendations on what gladiators did or did not eat - thankfully, nutritional science has come a long way .
Re: How do you upload recipes using a json file? I can't get it to work...
I’d love to see this feature!! I have tons of recipes in AnyList that I would love to import directly into Cronometer with json.
Cronometer Enhancement Priority List
Instead of taking requests by the forum, why do you not do it like other software sites? Create a place to suggest features, and allow us to vote on them? For example, give each member 5 votes to vote what's important to them (maybe 10 for Gold members). The list of feature enhancements with change order based on number of votes. It would allow you, and us to get a sense of what's important to your users.
And, as the voted features are added, you can return the votes to the users to apply them to other wants.

Ability to reorder ingredients in recipes
It would be really nice to be able to drag ingredients up and down to reorder them. This comes up a lot for me as I make changes to prior recipes, new ingredients are always added at the bottom of the list even though it makes sense for them to be at the top or grouped with other items.
Re: Search diary entries for food
Any news on this feature?
As someone who has been using Cronometer quite a long time now I'm getting a bit fed up of the fact that basic features like this aren't getting implemented ahead of things like a relatively pointless UI overhaul which didn't really make it much better (and actually made some things worse, such as much less efficient use of screen space!).
As people have pointed out in this thread, this isn't a super complex feature to implement, in fact the most basic version of it has been described here by a programmer as a "1 pot of coffee project"! We're not asking for anything huge here, just something like a search box and a basic search output where we can click on an item and get taken to that diary entry (in fact I wouldn't even really mind if I couldn't click on items as long as it tells me what the date was so I can easily find it myself!).
Please Cronometer, listen to your long term users!
protein requirements
I don't know if I agree with what has been said regarding protein amounts needed, as far as I am aware from a leading Heart specialist vegetarians and animals get their protein from plants. Cattle Sheep etc don't have protein themselves they get it from the grass and plants they eat. The strongest animals in the planet the elephants and the gorilla's and in roman times the gladiators were and are vegetarians. Protein requirements I understand from the many doctors who support a WFPB diet state there has never been anyone who has suffered from a deficiency in protein and that you don't need a lot of vegetable to sustain your daily requirements. Everyone choice I know and I originally thought big chunks of steak were the only source of protein available.
Re: no oil WFPB diet
I don't want to be a party-pooper, but 700 calories, very little protein, to a sedentary 74 years old guy means very little dietary IGF-1 in a context of downtrending IGF-1 and that it's an invitation to sarcopenia or myiopenia, that is, loss of muscle tissue. You are probably loosing significant muscle tissue together with adipose tissue and that may be deleterious in old age. Please refer to the research from the eminent biogerontologist Valter Longo . I would check out this aspect attentively.
Re: no oil WFPB diet
less than 1,000 cals sounds too extreme to me. and i agree with the multi vitamin, being i can't meet my nutritional needs from food for less than 1,300-1,400 cals...
remember biological processes take time, like watching a plant grow in the dirt i wouldn't try and rush it so much...i'd wonder if this would explain why some people get lose skin and others don't, losing weight...
and it sounds like i eat like Susan, WFPB, but about once or twice a month i splurge and get a burger or steak....
